Jelica: “Hello, I’m Jelica Nuccio (sign: Handshape Y moving from upper left shoulder to lower right hip). I’m one of the DeafBlind leaders of the DeafBlind coalition. We have been working for the past year, in partnership with Facundo Element.
The goal of this video is to request financial support. One of our primary goals is to go to Washington, D.C. to meet with Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) staff Mark Snyderman. Mr. Snyderman is responsible for overseeing Helen Keller National Center. He manages funding that goes through federal channels to HKNC. We want to share with him our concerns about HKNC services not being accessible for all DeafBlind individuals. Many of us have tried for a long time now to give our feedback and input, but that has not been effective. We feel it would be best to go in person to meet with Mr. Snyderman, where we can have an intensive discussion with ASL and Tactile ASL. We want him to understand that we have a strong voice.
The money we are raising is intended to pay for (up to 3 people) airfare, lodging, ASL and Tactile interpreters/SSP. Our goal is to raise $3,000.00.
We ask that you donate money by following the link posted under this video (pay pal, via Facundo Element). Please make sure you comment that you want the donation to go to the DeafBlind coalition. We really appreciate your support. Thank you.”
Alison: “Thank you.”
